As an enthusiastic amateur photographer dating back many decades to my days in the college darkroom, my interest was rekindled by the early twenty-first century evolution of digital photography, as it emerged from its “toy-camera” origins and became the state of the art. I’m now retired from my career as an anesthesiologist in the greater Philadelphia area, and this provides me more opportunity to take my camera out for sessions when I feel inspired.
My interests run a gamut from landscape, wildlife, urban, and portrait work. Most of my photographs are taken in Philadelphia, its suburbs, and other sites around the Delaware Valley and mid-Atlantic region. My work has been exhibited in various venues in my local area, and it has won four awards at an annual juried show. I have also been a featured photographer at a gallery in my community.
I make no pretense regarding my status as an amateur photo-hobbyist. It’s just an activity I thoroughly enjoy, despite the inevitable frustrations in not being able to “get the shot right”. I’m always trying to learn from the many people I know, and those I don’t, with a lot more knowledge of the art of photography than I possess, and of them I am most appreciative.
